To have an embarrassment of kindness means practicing kindness in abundance. We are generous in our praise, liberal in our time spent helping others, and curious about one another as people. Kindness fosters an environment where everyone can feel respected, supported, and empowered to contribute.
Startup culture often optimizes for the short-term, sometimes at the cost of the long-term. At Wack, we are thoughtful about the future, both of the tech and the people behind it. We make sustainable decisions now knowing that we are building opportunities for ourselves and our community down the road.
There are three beneficiaries of honesty: ourselves, our teammates, and our community. Honesty with ourselves means knowing our limits and being comfortable saying, "I don't know." Honesty with our team means transparency in decision-making, successes, and failures, so that we can all learn together. Honesty with our community means being open about our plans and not making promises we cannot keep.
We believe in delivering more than a minimum valuable product. Wack prioritizes the finer details because we want our team and our community to feel pride for the work we do. Experiences can be more than functional, they can be delightful.
Diversity, equity, and inclusion are necessary virtues for every company, not because diversity provides a "competitive advantage," but because of the moral principle that all people deserve respect, equitable opportunity, and a humane workplace. True inclusion requires us to acknowledge the systemic disadvantages that still exist so we can actively work to remove accessibility barriers.
